Isle of Wight Groups Urged to Grab Up to £16k in Social Exclusion Grants
Local charities and community groups on the Isle of Wight have until noon on Friday 4 May to bag grants ranging from £3,000 to £16,000. The cash comes from the Isle of Wight Foundation, set up by Island Roads and its partners, aiming to fund projects tackling social exclusion across the Island.
Quarter of a Million Pounds Awarded So Far
This is the fifth year the Foundation has pumped money into Island causes. Over £250,000 has been handed out to 25 projects so far. Last year’s winners included big names such as St Catherine’s School, Age UK, the Island Riding Centre, The Bus Shelter, Isle of Wight Beach Soccer, and The Wave Project.
Focus on Building Stronger Communities
Each project targets the Foundation’s goal to shrink social exclusion by fostering better communities and boosting access to jobs. Philip Horton, Chair of the Isle of Wight Foundation Board, said:
“Since the Isle of Wight Foundation was launched in 2013, we have been delighted to support a wide range of projects which have had a hugely positive impact on people’s lives.”
He added, “Island Roads and its partners aren’t just passionate about improving our highways — we’re proud to back amazing projects fighting social exclusion on the Island.”
