A fatal crash on the A5 near Gailey has resulted in the death of a 59-year-old man this morning, 10 November. Emergency services were called to the scene at 11.40am following reports of a collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and a Peugeot 308.

Tragically, the driver of the Peugeot, aged 59, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred between Stretton and Gailey, close to the Ivy House Lane junction.

The A5 remains closed in both directions while the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit conducts a detailed investigation into the fatal incident. The road closure is expected to continue for some time.

Police are urgently appealing for witnesses who saw the crash or who may have dashcam footage to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 225 of 10 November, or to email [email protected].
