Firefighters rushed to a major blaze at a small holding in Navestock on Friday evening, where two ISO containers and several derelict outbuildings were destroyed by fire.

Teams from Brentwood, Ongar, Loughton, Grays, and Harlow attended the scene, supported by a water bowser from Corringham, to combat the rapidly spreading flames. Difficult access to the site slowed firefighting efforts, but crews worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading further.

“Crews worked tirelessly in difficult conditions to prevent further damage,” said Crew Manager Anthony Wakelin.

Police have confirmed the fire was deliberately set, classifying the incident as arson. An investigation is underway, and authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying those responsible.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Essex Police on 101. Anonymous tips can also be reported to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
