Police in Portsmouth are hunting a desperate thief who used a syringe to threaten shop workers while stealing alcohol. The man committed multiple thefts over two days, targeting supermarkets and taking bottles of gin and vodka.

The incidents occurred as follows:

March 6, 7pm: The suspect took several bottles of Gordon’s gin from Morrison’s on Flathouse Road.

March 7, 9:30am: The same man returned to the Morrison’s store and stole vodka.

March 7, 12:30pm–1pm: The thief changed tactics and stole washing-up tablets from Tesco Express on Kingston Road.

When confronted by staff, the man threatened them with a syringe or needle to intimidate them. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during these incidents.

Police are appealing for information to help identify and catch this needle-wielding gin thief. Anyone with details is urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference 44190080664. In an emergency, dial 999 immediately.
