Man Shot in Morden: Police Hunt Gunman After Brutal Leg Attack

Police are on the lookout for a gunman who shot a local man in Morden, leaving him permanently disabled. The shocking attack happened around 6.30pm on Thursday, 30 November, when officers and firearms teams rushed to a quiet residential street following reports of a shooting.

Victim Shot in the Leg in Broad Daylight

The 39-year-old victim was standing on Love Lane near Green Lane when a man armed with a single-barrelled shotgun approached him. Moments later he was hit by a single shot to the leg. The victim told officers he didn’t recognise the attacker, who made a swift getaway in a black hatchback.

It’s believed the getaway car may have contained a second person, either male or female. The victim, a local resident, spent nearly a month in hospital and faces a long road to recovery.

Life-Changing Injuries Leave Victim Struggling

PC Renshaw revealed the grim impact of the shooting: “This victim has had his life changed and his long-term girlfriend has been severely affected as well. He will be unable to work again for a considerable amount of time.”

The victim lost 3-4 centimetres of his right leg and faces at least another year of surgery and rehab. He currently relies on crutches and moves with difficulty.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Officers from the Trident and Area Crime Command are appealing for anyone who witnessed the shooting, saw the suspect or the black hatchback, or noticed anything suspicious near the scene to get in touch.

“Any information could prove vital to us, so please do call us. Any information will be treated in confidence,” said PC Renshaw.

No arrests have been made yet. Enquiries are ongoing.
