Dame Caroline Dinenage, MP for Gosport, has expressed strong support for the government’s new agenda unveiled in the King’s Speech. She believes the proposed laws will deliver significant benefits to Gosport, Stubbington, Lee on the Solent, and Hill Head.

The State Opening of Parliament has introduced a bold new parliamentary session with four key priorities outlined by the King’s Speech.

First, boosting the economy through new bills aimed at energy security, leveraging opportunities from Brexit, and supporting the growth of tech firms across the UK.

Second, strengthening society with measures to protect young people’s health, provide support for renters and landlords, and combat antisemitism. A notable initiative is the Holocaust Memorial Bill, which seeks to establish a national memorial and learning centre in London.

Third, keeping people safe by introducing tougher laws and granting more powers to the police to address crime and terrorism. The Sentencing Bill and Criminal Justice Bill are central to this effort.

Finally, promoting national interests by backing the Armed Forces, assisting Ukraine, and preparing for future challenges such as climate change and artificial intelligence.

Dame Caroline commented, “This speech reflects the priorities of my constituents in Gosport, Hill Head, Stubbington, and Lee on the Solent. It includes measures to boost the economy, lower inflation, improve national security, and enhance our healthcare.”

She added, “From plans to phase out smoking, set new education standards, reform leaseholds, and enforce tougher sentencing, these long-term visions promise a more prosperous UK.”

The Prime Minister also expressed his support for this ambitious vision for Britain’s future. He emphasised the government’s readiness to address the country’s biggest challenges with long-term decisions and pledged legislation to strengthen communities, improve safety, and foster national pride.

The King’s Speech marks a significant step in guiding the UK towards progress and prosperity as the new parliamentary session begins.
