Police Probe Suspicious Van Incident Targeting 10-Year-Old Girl in Lymington
Police in the New Forest are hunting for a man who pulled up alongside a 10-year-old girl in a black van and spoke to her during her walk home in Lymington.
Van Creeps Up on Girl Walking Home
The unsettling encounter happened at around 3:40pm on Tuesday 21 March. The girl was strolling along Highfield Avenue and Southern Road when a small black van stopped beside her. Inside was a man she didn’t know.
The man didn’t get out or touch the child but spoke briefly through the window. Alarmed, the girl ran straight home unharmed.
Suspect Description Released
- White male
- Shaved head
- Black beard
- Wearing all black clothing
Police Urge Vigilance
Inspector Richard Parsons said: “We are not currently linking this incident with any other reports but urge everyone to report suspicious activity on 101.”
He added: “Parents and children need to stay alert. Remind kids about stranger danger and arrange to walk to school with friends or family. Our officers will continue patrolling Lymington to keep the area safe.”
Inspector Parsons reassured the public: “Often these situations have innocent explanations, but we take every report seriously and are conducting a full investigation.”
