Olajiire Albert-Shoyombo, aged 20, was caught by Nottingham police after fleeing a chaotic street fight in Shakespeare Street, Sneinton. Officers chased him into a narrow alley off Bluecoat Street where they tackled him to the ground and arrested him.

Albert-Shoyombo, who lives on Ashfield Road, Sneinton, was no stranger to law enforcement. Just three months prior, he had been arrested for dealing cocaine and heroin in the St Ann’s area of Nottingham. Further investigations revealed that he had been supplying Class A drugs between April and October 2022.

Police analysed mobile phones seized during both arrests, which helped build a strong case against him. A subsequent raid on his flat uncovered more drugs, cannabis, hundreds of pounds in cash, knives, and drug paraphernalia. The phones also linked him to additional criminal activities, expanding the scope of his drug operation.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday 23 March, Albert-Shoyombo pleaded guilty to charges of supplying heroin and cocaine. He was sentenced to three years and four months in a young offenders’ institution.

Detective Constable Marc Prangnell commented, “Despite previously being arrested for drug dealing, Albert-Shoyombo continued his criminal activity. Officers did an excellent job detaining him during a confusing street fight.”

He added, “Drugs remain a scourge on our communities and putting dealers like Albert-Shoyombo behind bars remains a key priority for the force.”
