South Yorkshire Police’s Operation Fortify has dealt a significant blow to drug crime in Doncaster by securing prison sentences totaling more than six years for three drug dealers.
In March last year, officers conducted a raid on a property in Hexthorpe after receiving a tip-off about drug dealing activities. During the search, police discovered bags containing white and brown powders, which were later confirmed to be cocaine and heroin.
Three suspects were arrested at the scene and charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.
At Sheffield Crown Court, Susan Hemsworth, 54, who is homeless, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years and three months in prison. Sian Wallace, 36, also homeless, admitted to the drug offences as well as burglary and received a sentence of two years and nine months. Ratislav Pecha, 22, from Doncaster, pleaded guilty to the drug charges but was given a two-year suspended sentence.
In a related case, Isaac Greaves, 26, of Highfields, was jailed for two and a half years last Friday after being found guilty of possession with intent to supply cocaine.
Operation Fortify continues to send a strong message that drug dealers in Doncaster will face serious consequences. Police have pledged to maintain their efforts to combat organised crime in the area.
