Suspicious Men Target School Kids in Southampton – Police Urge Caution
Police are hunting two suspicious men after creepy encounters with school children in Southampton this week. Parents and pupils are being warned to stay alert while walking to and from school.
Man in Blue Car and Cyclist Raise Alarm
The first incident happened on Monday, February 13, between 2.30pm and 3.15pm near Cantell School.
- Two girls aged 11 and 12 were walking home through Daisy Dip when they spotted a suspicious man on a pedal bike.
- The girls split up after seeing him.
- Shortly after, the 11-year-old was approached by a man in a blue car on Copperfield Road—believed to be the same man on the bike.
The man is described as white, in his 30s. The brave girl reported the encounter to a teacher at nearby Bassett Green School.

Second Creepy Approach in Blue Van
Just two days later on Wednesday, February 15, a 10-year-old girl was approached by a man driving a small blue van on Laburnham Road on her way to Bassett Green School.
The girl ignored him and quickly told a teacher.
The man is described as white, around 30, with dark brown hair, brown eyes, stubble, and wearing a green NYC baseball cap.

Police Warn Parents: Stay Vigilant
“We ask parents and children to be vigilant about personal safety,” said Acting Sgt. Gail Salley of Southampton North Neighbourhood Team. “Remind children about stranger danger. Walk to school with them or ensure they go with friends. Always stick together.”
She added that officers are stepping up patrols around both schools to keep kids safe.
“While many such reports have innocent explanations, we take every call seriously and are investigating thoroughly,” Sgt. Salley assured the community.
