Elderly Woman Dies in Suspicious Romford Fire

Detectives have named the victim of a tragic fire in Romford. Mrs Josephine Smith, 88, lost her life in the blaze.

Fire Breaks Out on Queens Park Road

Emergency services were called to a residential address on Queens Park Road at 10.17pm on Thursday, 28 October. The London Fire Brigade and police arrived quickly. Sadly, Mrs Smith was found inside and pronounced dead at the scene.

Murder Probe Launched, Teenagers Arrested

Police found a firework at the scene, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. On 30 October, three teenagers — a man and a girl in their late teens, and a boy in his mid-teens — were arrested on suspicion of murder. All have been bailed until late November.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley of the Met’s Specialist Crime unit said: “This is a very sad case, and we are supporting Mrs Smith’s family fully. We urge the public not to speculate until investigations are complete. If anyone has information, please contact us immediately.”
