Tragedy in St Ives as Man in His 70s Killed in Hit-and-Run

Car Hits Pedestrian at Busy Junction

A man in his 70s has died after a collision with a car in St Ives on Saturday night. The crash happened around 8:55pm at the junction of Tregenna Place and Gabriel Place. Emergency services rushed to the scene after being alerted, but despite their best efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Driver Arrested on Careless Driving Charge

Devon & Cornwall Police have arrested the driver on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. So far, no details about the driver’s identity, age, or gender have been released. The force has informed the victim’s family of the tragic loss.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Officers are thanking the public for their assistance but are still appealing for anyone who saw the collision or has information to get in touch. “Please contact us by calling 101 and quoting log 773 30/12/23,” said Devon & Cornwall Police. Witnesses may also report via the police website.
