Two men have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms after a brutal knife attack in Bracknell. Thames Valley Police successfully investigated the case, resulting in the convictions of the offenders.
Billy-Ray Barclay, 35, from Camberley, was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison. Nathan Mushidi, 24, who is currently homeless, received a six-year sentence. Both sentences were handed down at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday.
The violent assault took place on October 17 last year. The victim, a man in his 30s, went to Priestwood Square to confront Nathan Mushidi over money owed to him. Instead, he was ambushed by both Barclay and Mushidi.
During the attack, Barclay stabbed the victim in the back with a knife, causing an 8cm wound close to the spine. The victim required surgery but has since made a recovery.
Detective Constable Clare Hickman of Loddon Valley CID praised the victim’s bravery and emphasised the seriousness of knife crime. She said, “We take knife crime extremely seriously and applaud the victim’s bravery during this investigation. We urge anyone with information about knife carriers to come forward. Working together, we can keep Bracknell’s streets safe.”
Mushidi was arrested the day after the attack in April last year, while Barclay was arrested in May. Their sentencing sends a clear message that violent knife crime will not be tolerated in Bracknell.
