Chaos erupted at Kings Cross Underground Station today as passengers were evacuated after a fire alarm sounded at 2:30pm. The incident led to significant disruption across multiple London Tube lines.

The alarm prompted an immediate response from the London Fire Brigade and station security teams. The incident, coded 3G/217, affected the Kings Cross, St Pancras, and Euston Road areas. British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that an Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) triggered the evacuation as a precaution while firefighters investigated the cause.

“An Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) was triggered at Kings Cross Underground Station. As a precaution, the station was evacuated while fire crews investigated the cause of the activation,” a BTP spokesperson said.

Despite the alarm, no smoke or flames were detected at the scene. Fire crews remain on site conducting investigations to determine whether the alarm was caused by a technical fault or environmental factors.

The evacuation caused major travel disruptions across several key London Underground lines, including the Victoria Line, Northern Line, Piccadilly Line, Hammersmith & City Line, Circle Line, and Metropolitan Line.

Transport for London (TfL) advised commuters to check for updates and consider alternative routes due to the delays. British Transport Police were actively supporting station staff and ensuring passenger safety throughout the incident.

Authorities urged: “If you are travelling through Kings Cross or nearby interchange points today, please allow extra time and follow directions from station staff.”

Updates will be provided as emergency crews work to resolve the situation and restore normal service at Kings Cross Underground Station.
