Detectives are urgently seeking help following the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Drekwon Patterson in Brent. Officers are appealing for information about a suspicious vehicle and a van driver who were seen near the scene of the attack.
Police were called to Preston Road just after 11:30pm on Thursday, 18 February, where Drekwon was found with stab wounds. Despite emergency efforts, he died before 9am the following day.
Investigators revealed that a black Ford Mondeo, registration YR54 NHN, was captured on CCTV leaving the scene. The vehicle was later discovered burnt out in Silver Jubilee Park, NW9, on Friday, 19 February.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard said: “We believe the Mondeo was used in an initial collision attempt to injure Drekwon. After he ran, four suspects chased him before fatally stabbing him.”
DCI Leonard urged local residents to come forward if they noticed the large, older Mondeo in the area in the days before the murder or saw anyone acting suspiciously with the car.
Police are also searching for a van driver who stopped briefly near the crime scene and may have witnessed important events related to the attack. CCTV images of both the van and the Ford Mondeo have been released as part of the ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8721 4622 or call police on 101 quoting CAD 8167/18Feb. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
