Police are currently searching for a hit-and-run driver after a cyclist was seriously injured in Eastbourne.

The incident occurred at approximately 10.35am on Monday, 5 October, on the southbound carriageway of Lottbridge Drove.

The cyclist, a 64-year-old local man, was riding between the one-way exit from Morrisons and B&Q when a car struck him and then sped away without stopping.

The injured cyclist was immediately taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries.

At this time, police have not released any information regarding the make or model of the vehicle involved in the collision.

Sergeant Victoria Rees from the Sussex Road Policing Unit appealed for witnesses, stating: “We need anyone who saw the incident or can identify the car to come forward. If you were in the area and have dashcam footage, please get in touch. We are also appealing directly to the driver involved to contact us.”
