The Metropolitan Police have launched a manhunt for Nathan Smith, 27, of no fixed address, following the fatal stabbing of Takieddine “Taki” Boudhane in Finsbury Park. Taki, aged 30, died after being stabbed during a violent traffic dispute on 3 January.
Authorities have offered a £10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Smith. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, revealed that Smith fled the United Kingdom the day after the incident. He initially travelled to Austria and then Switzerland. Police believe he may now be elsewhere in Europe or beyond.
“We are very keen to speak to Nathan Smith as part of our ongoing enquiries,” said DCI John. “We know he fled the country the day after Taki’s murder. There’s a European Arrest Warrant out for him and enquiries continue in several countries, with help from the National Crime Agency (NCA).”
Smith is described as a white male, approximately 6ft 3ins tall, with a slim build, dark hair, and usually a dark beard, although he may have shaved it off. He has a distinctive tattoo on his right forearm that reads ‘count your blessings’. He is known to frequent areas in north London such as Islington, Camden, and Kentish Town.
Taki was an Algerian delivery rider living in Enfield. He was involved in a traffic altercation at Lennox Road near Charteris Road, N4, at around 6.50pm before being stabbed multiple times. Despite emergency efforts, he died at the scene. The post-mortem examination confirmed death by an incised wound to the chest.
“Whoever did this horrible crime didn’t kill just my son Taki, but they killed our entire family,” said Taki’s mother, Saida Boudhane. “My son is still alive until we bring to justice the person who murdered my beloved son. All I want now is justice for Taki.”
DCI John added, “Taki was an innocent man who came here seeking a better life. That life was brutally cut short. His family deserves justice, and we need the public to help. Please come forward if you have any information.”
