A man accused of a terrifying mass stabbing on an LNER train now faces fresh attempted murder charges, including the attack on a teenage boy.
Anthony Williams Hit with New Attempted Murder Charges
Anthony Williams, 32, from Peterborough, has been slapped with two more counts of attempted murder. These add to previous charges from violent attacks on trains and in London.
The horrific incident happened earlier this month on a packed LNER service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. Panicked passengers fled, hiding in toilets while a brave train crew member tried to stop the madness.
Williams was already facing 11 attempted murder charges tied to an attack in Huntingdon and a separate assault in London.
New Charges Reveal Shocking Scale of Violence
- Attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man in Peterborough
- Attempted grievous bodily harm of a 28-year-old man in Peterborough on October 31
- Affray and carrying a blade during an incident at Ritzy Barbers
- Theft of knives from Asda
- Assault on a 31-year-old man on a train between Hitchin and Biggleswade on October 31
British Transport Police Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said: “These are a significant set of new charges. We’ve worked closely with Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service to bring these charges.”
Heroes Step Up Amid Panic and Bloodshed
Train worker Samir Zitouni, 48, has been hailed a hero after being critically injured defending passengers. Thankfully, he has now been discharged from hospital.
Nottingham Forest fan Stephen Crean, 61, showed guts too. When Williams confronted him, asking, “Do you want to die?”, Crean was stabbed six times but fought back and locked himself in a toilet until police arrived.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander praised the rail staff and emergency responders: “Their actions undoubtedly saved lives. It was a privilege to thank them for their heroic work.”
Public Urged to Stay Alert as Man Remains in Custody
Williams remains in custody while investigations continue. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.
