Portsmouth Pub Opens Doors to Homeless Amid Freezing Weather

A kind-hearted landlord and landlady at The Milton Arms have swung open their function room to help Portsmouth’s homeless this week.

Colin and Jayne Nash spotted no bookings for their function room, The Barn, at the corner of Priory Crescent and Milton Road. With icy weather forecast, they knew they had to act fast.

Warm Shelter and Free Food Offered

The Barn will be open Thursday and Friday nights, offering a safe, heated space for anyone sleeping rough in the city.

From tomorrow morning through to Saturday afternoon, we’re opening our doors to any homeless person in need of somewhere to sleep,” the couple told Spotted Portsmouth.

Hot food and warming shelter will be provided free of charge to those seeking refuge from the cold.

Call for Donations to Keep Guests Warm

The pub is also appealing for donations of sleeping bags, blankets, and bedding to help keep their guests cosy.

“Please can everyone share this post and inform anyone you know who needs somewhere warm to stay. We are also asking for any donations to help those that need it. Thank you all in advance,” said Colin and Jayne Nash.

This generous gesture shines a light on community spirit amid harsh winter conditions in Portsmouth.
