A woman was rushed to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision on the A2 near Gravesend this morning, which caused significant traffic delays. The crash, involving a car overturning, occurred at the junction with the A227 Wrotham Road at around 8:30 AM.
Emergency services responded promptly, temporarily closing all lanes to manage the wreckage and attend to those involved. The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) confirmed that two people received treatment at the scene. One woman was transported to Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough for further care. Thankfully, the injuries sustained by both individuals are not life-threatening.
“SECAmb was called at about 08:38 to a report of a road traffic collision at the junction of Watling Street and Wrotham Road in Gravesend,” a spokesperson said. “Crews treated two patients before taking one female to hospital for further care.”
Kent Police were present early to manage the traffic chaos, assist with vehicle recovery, and keep traffic moving. The crash involved two cars travelling London-bound on the A2 near Wrotham Road.
“Patrols and highways officers helped recover the vehicles and clear the road after paramedics attended the injured,” a police representative confirmed. By just before 11 AM, all lanes were reopened, restoring normal traffic flow following the morning congestion.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash. Drivers using the A2 are advised to remain alert and drive carefully to prevent further incidents in the area.
