UK Passport Prices to Smash £100 Barrier from 2026
Get ready to pay more for your passport! From 8 April 2026, standard UK passport fees will break the £100 mark for the first time ever, pending Parliament’s green light.
Price Hikes Hit All Passport Types
- Standard adult online applications jump by £7.50 – from £94.50 to £102.
- Child passports climb £5, now costing £66.50.
- Postal applications get pricier: £115.50 for adults and £80 for kids.
- The one-day premium service shoots up to a whopping £239.50.
Government Says It’s About Covering Costs
The Home Office defends the steep rises, saying passport fees will now mainly cover the cost of service rather than relying on taxpayers.
“The government does not make a profit from passport fees,” officials stressed.
The extra cash helps fund processing, consular support for Brits overseas—including lost or stolen passport help—and border management.
