Border Force Bust Huge Cocaine Haul at London Gateway

Border officers have dealt a massive blow to drug traffickers by seizing nearly one tonne of cocaine at London Gateway port.

Panama-to-Norway Shipment Uncovered

On Friday, 20 March, Border Force officers uncovered the stash hidden inside a container arriving from Panama. The shipment, officially loaded with ceramics and kitchenware, was destined for Norway.

Officers found shrink-wrapped cocaine concealed within several holdalls – a slick smuggling tactic exposed before the drugs could move further.

£8 Million Worth of Cocaine Taken Off the Streets

The National Crime Agency (NCA) values the seized cocaine at an eye-watering £8 million once cut and sold on UK streets.

NCA Senior Investigating Officer Paul Orchard said: “This was a fantastic seizure by our colleagues at Border Force, and taking this amount of cocaine out of circulation will have deprived the organised criminals involved of millions in profits.

At this point we don’t believe the UK was the end destination for this consignment, but we are working with international partners to identify the routing and target those involved. Those investigations continue.”
