Tributes have been paid to a 14-year-old girl who died after being struck by vehicles on the M20 near Aylesford. The teenager, who has been named locally by friends and family as Lexie, was on the coastbound carriageway near a footbridge close to Teapot Lane when the collision happened in the early hours of Saturday, 22 August. Emergency services were called at around 3.19am to the M20 between junctions 4 and 5. The girl was struck by vehicles including a Ford Transit van and a Vauxhall Corsa and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed. Friends have since shared photographs, videos and emotional messages on social media in her memory. One tribute read:
“Rest in peace Lex, you didn’t deserve it.”
Another said:
“RIP our Lexi. We miss you. Forever 14.”
Flowers have also been left on the nearby footbridge.
Police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage
Kent Police is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and is appealing for anyone who travelled through the area between 3.15am and 3.28am to come forward. Officers particularly want to hear from anyone who saw a pedestrian on the carriageway or who may have captured relevant footage on a dashcam.
