Seven-Year-Old Girl Found Dead at Doncaster Golf Course
Tragedy struck at Owston Hall golf course in Doncaster when the body of seven-year-old Nyla May Bradshaw was found in a pond on Monday morning. The young schoolgirl had been missing, sparking a massive search operation.
Heartbroken Mum’s Emotional Tribute
Nyla’s devastated mum, Hayley Beardsley, paid a touching tribute to her “brightest smile” and “whole world.” She said:
“It breaks my heart to write this, but today we lost our beautiful daughter Nyla May Bradshaw at just seven years old. She was our whole world, full of love, laughter, and the brightest smile that could light up any room. She brought so much joy into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her. Our sweet little girl will be loved forever and never, ever forgotten. Forever 7 my girl, this isn’t goodbye – it’s an until we meet again. You have family up there who will look after you. You were too special for this earth. Run as free as you want now, my gorgeous girl.”
Massive Search at Scenic Golf Course
Emergency crews, including police, paramedics, air ambulance, and helicopters, launched an urgent search after Nyla was reported missing from the Skellow area. The search centred on the idyllic Owston Hall Golf Course — an 80-acre site known for its parkland and water hazards.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson confirmed:
“Following an extensive search, the child was located in a pond on Owston Hall golf course.”
Despite desperate life-saving attempts, Nyla was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and are receiving support from officers.
Community in Mourning as Police Investigate
Family friend Charlotte Emma said:
“She was loved by us all. Her mother only wants her memory to live on and for everyone to see how happy she really was.”
Police have launched a major investigation and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward, referencing incident number 198 of 30 March.
Owston Hall golf course, established in 1988, lies between Carcroft and Owston on Owston Lane. The picturesque site is now a heartbreaking scene of loss for the local community.
