Amelia, the eight-year-old girl who stole hearts worldwide with her record-breaking birthday card campaign, has tragically died, her family has confirmed.

From Global Sensation to Heartbreaking Loss

Amelia aimed to receive 80,000 birthday cards but blasted through that target, racking up over 250,000 messages of love and support from around the globe.

But on Tuesday, 17 March, her mother, Katarzyna Bartczak, broke the devastating news on Facebook.

“I’m writing this with a pain that words cannot describe,” she said. “Today at 5:00pm, our beloved Amelia passed away. She has put on her angel wings.”

“She is no longer suffering. She is no longer in pain. She is in a place where everything is beautiful, peaceful, and full of light.”

Unbreakable Courage

For nearly six years, Amelia battled illness with extraordinary bravery.

“Every single day, she showed us what true courage looks like,” her mother revealed.

“She showed the whole world that even the smallest heart can hold the greatest power, and that love – pure, unconditional love – truly overcomes everything.”

Katarzyna described Amelia as “our greatest miracle, our heart, our light,” thanking her for “every moment, every smile, every glance.”

“This is not goodbye – it’s ‘see you again’, our little angel,” she added.
