Five Teens Die in Deadly Spanish Storage Fire
Tragedy struck in north-east Spain as five young people died in a massive fire that ripped through a converted storage space inside a residential block. The blaze erupted late Monday night in Manlleu, just 50 miles north of Barcelona.
Flames Tear Through Converted Storage Room
Catalonia’s fire brigade was called after residents spotted smoke shortly after 9pm local time. The inferno engulfed a five-storey building, sparking a frantic rescue mission. Four others suffered injuries in the chaos.
The storage area, located on the top floor and apparently turned into makeshift living quarters, trapped the victims inside. Firefighters are baffled how those inside could not escape the deadly blaze.
Police Probe After Teenagers Found Dead
Authorities have not yet released the victims’ identities but Spanish media say the dead were teenagers. An investigation is underway to determine the fire’s cause, though no further details have emerged.
