Emergency services rushed to the A3 southbound near Liphook Services just after 1:40pm today following a dramatic car crash. A vehicle veered off the road, hit floodwater, and ended up on its side after crashing into an embankment.
Fire crews from Cosham, Greyshot, Petersfield, and Waterlooville arrived on scene with a Cosham rescue support unit. Using specialist cutting equipment, firefighters battled harsh weather conditions to free a woman trapped inside the vehicle. The complex extrication operation took over two hours to complete.
There were three people in the car at the time of the crash. Paramedics from South Central Ambulance treated two passengers at the scene, while the third occupant was trapped and had to be cut free by firefighters. Two of the injured were rushed to hospital for further treatment.
After the woman was freed, the fire service secured the vehicle. Recovery of the car required a specialist Hiab Crane from JD Motors to haul it out of the tree line where it had come to rest.
