A flat on the second floor of a building went up in flames, sparking a major fire alert. Part of a four-room flat was ablaze, sending smoke billowing from the roof extension above a shop below.

Firefighters Launch High-Tech Attack

Station Commander Colin Digby, who was on the scene, said: “The fire took hold on the roof extension above the shop with smoke pouring out from the building’s edges.

Fire crews didn’t hold back. They deployed a massive 32-metre turntable ladder to reach the flames and fired up a drone and thermal imaging camera to hunt for any hidden blazes.

Broadway Shut, Diversions In Place

The busy Broadway has been closed as firefighters battle the blaze. “We’re advising people to steer clear of the area while crews work into the evening,” warned the Brigade.

Fast Response, Cause Unknown

  • The Brigade was called at 4:10pm
  • Fire was under control by 5:52pm
  • Crews from Ealing, Acton, Southall, Wembley and nearby stations responded

The cause of the fire remains under investigation as firefighters mop up and ensure the area is safe.
