Surrey Fire Service Set for Biggest Training Facility Overhaul Ever

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is gearing up for a massive upgrade at its Wray Park training centre in Reigate. Surrey County Council’s Cabinet has given the green light to a record-breaking investment in firefighter training.

State-of-the-Art Upgrades to Boost Firefighter Skills

This is the largest single funding boost for frontline training in SFRS history. The revamp will equip firefighters with top-notch facilities to meet all statutory training needs safely and effectively.

  • Major improvements to the Firehouse and other amenities
  • Enhanced drills in fire behaviour, working at height, breathing apparatus use, and confined space operations

Fire Chiefs Praise Investment as Game-Changer

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Sally Wilson said: “Our current facilities need constant upkeep and don’t meet today’s demands. These upgrades will raise our standards and set a new benchmark in fire service training.”

Chief Fire Officer Dan Quin added: “This investment will propel us to the forefront of fire and rescue training. Our firefighters will gain the skills to better protect Surrey’s communities.”

Modernisation Drive Across Surrey Fire Stations

The Wray Park overhaul is part of a wider plan to update stations in Lingfield, Chobham, and Reigate. These projects aim to improve working conditions for crews and boost safety for local residents.

SFRS is also working with Land and Property teams to ensure new developments support sustainability goals and cut the service’s carbon footprint.

A public consultation is set for May, inviting locals to review plans and share their views.
