Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled a large wildfire on Cocknage Road late Wednesday evening, 29 April. Six fire engines responded to reports of a 100m by 100m vegetation fire, working through the night to bring the blaze under control. The wildfire was fully dampened down by the following morning with no injuries reported.

Massive Blaze Contained

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 8.40pm after the fire broke out in the shrubland. Using hose reel jets, a wildfire hose, beaters, and backpacks, crews fought the fire actively throughout the evening and into the night.

Overnight Fire Operation

Teams remained onsite overnight to manage hotspots and prevent the fire from reigniting. Firefighters left the scene at approximately 7.30am on 30 April after ensuring full extinguishment.

Fire Safety Reminder

No injuries were reported during the incident. Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service continues to advise caution during dry conditions to reduce wildfire risks.
