Blaze Erupts on Fifth Floor Flat in Chadwell St Mary
Firefighters raced to tackle a fierce blaze that broke out on the fifth floor of a block on Godman Road this evening. Six fire crews arrived in full force to battle the flames and bring the situation under control.
Residents Praise for Staying Put During Fire
Station Manager Russ Freeman hailed residents for following the critical stay put policy. He said, “Thank you to all the residents who followed the stay put policy within this building. This meant we could get crews inside the affected flat quickly and put the fire out as quickly as possible.”
Firefighters Secure Scene and Launch Probe into Cause
Even after dousing the flames, firefighters stayed on site to run safety checks and support residents. Station Manager Freeman confirmed, “Crews will be on scene for a little while longer, working to make the scene safe and are checking in with residents. Tomorrow, we’ll work to carry out a fire investigation to determine the cause.”
