Traffic Nightmare Strikes Newport Again as Mobile Home Gets Stuck
Newport is facing its second day of traffic chaos after another mobile home transporter got stuck, sparking gridlock and delays across the town.
Mobile Homes Block Roads Twice in Two Days
The latest jam unfolded in Carisbrooke just before 9am when a mobile home transporter, trying to dodge yesterday’s disaster, got trapped amid ongoing roadworks at the top of Carisbrooke Road. This unescorted transporter brought traffic to a standstill, frustrating drivers and commuters alike.
Buses and Commuters Left Stuck in Jam
Route 7 buses from Newport to Alum Bay were caught in the snarl-up, with Southern Vectis reporting delays of 20 to 30 minutes. The build-up followed yesterday’s chaos, when a similar vehicle tried—and failed—to make a tricky turn into Trafalgar Road from St John’s Place, causing gridlock in the heart of the capital of the Isle of Wight.
Another Transporter Hits Trouble in Freshwater
Just when Newport hoped the nightmare ended, new reports confirm yet another mobile home transporter has become stuck in Freshwater. Despite police assistance, the second lorry is once again causing traffic misery, proving these “not-so-mobile” homes are a serious headache for the island.
