Tributes are being paid to PC Nicola Hughes and PC Fiona Bone, 14 years after the two manchester-police/">Greater Manchester Police officers were murdered while on duty. The officers were killed on 18 September 2012, after reporting for what should have been an ordinary shift serving their communities. Their deaths sent shockwaves through policing and across the country, and their memory continues to be honoured by colleagues, friends, families and members of the public. Greater Manchester Police has previously said the courage and dedication of Nicola and Fiona “continues to inspire us every day”. Both officers were also among the first recipients of the Elizabeth Emblem, which recognises public servants who lost their lives in the line of duty.
