Divers entered the Grand Union Canal in Loughborough today (Monday 9 December) in a renewed effort to locate Linda Chambers, who has been missing for several months. This underwater search follows a three-day sweep last month, during which specially trained dogs searched the canal banks without success.
Linda Chambers, aged 43, was reported missing on 10 September by a concerned friend who had not heard from her for some time. Since her disappearance, Leicestershire Police have launched a significant appeal, releasing photos of Linda from her last known sighting while shopping in Loughborough on 13 April.
Police have also sought information about a man named Garth, believed to have a connection to Linda. Although officers have traced this individual, they remain uncertain about Linda’s current whereabouts.
Detective Inspector Simon Boden, from Leicestershire Police’s Missing Persons team, said, “We’re keeping an open mind about where Linda might be. With no leads in and around Loughborough, our focus has shifted to the canal. After searches by dogs, today we have divers searching the water. Anyone with any information, no matter how small, could be crucial.”
Details about Linda Chambers include:
- Height: 5ft 3ins tall
- Shoulder-length brown hair
- Wears glasses
- Known to visit a gift shop in Churchgate, Loughborough, and Queens Park
- Regularly uses buses and travels on foot
