Police have maintained a crime scene at a property in Biggin Hill for several days following reports that bones have been discovered. Metropolitan Police officers were called to Aperfield Road, Biggin Hill, at around 1.33pm on Friday (7 August). A cordon was established around a property and has remained in place while officers carry out investigations. The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that it received reports of bones being found at the location.
Tests underway to determine if remains are human
Forensic work is now being carried out to establish whether the remains are human. Police have not disclosed where within or around the property the bones were discovered or provided details about how they came to be found. No information has been released suggesting that the remains have yet been formally identified as human. The circumstances surrounding the discovery therefore remain unclear. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “An investigation is ongoing. A crime scene remains in place pending further enquiries.” There has been an emergency services presence in Aperfield Road since Friday as the investigation continues. Further details are expected once forensic examinations establish the nature and origin of the remains.
