PM Rishi Sunak to Honour Six-Year-Old Hero Dáithí Mac Gabhann
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is set to personally present six-year-old Dáithí Mac Gabhann with the prestigious Points of Light award this morning. This comes during Sunak’s visit to Northern Ireland to mark the 25th anniversary of the Belfast Good Friday Agreement.
Dáithí’s Law: A Campaign That Changed Organ Donation
The Points of Light awards celebrate outstanding volunteers making a real difference in their communities. Dáithí and his family have campaigned tirelessly for ‘Dáithí’s Law’—a groundbreaking shift to an opt-out organ donation system in Northern Ireland, bringing it in line with the rest of the UK.
Their relentless efforts led the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to fast-track vital amendments to the Executive Formation Bill earlier this year, making the law a reality and saving lives across the region.
