Uber Launches in Southampton
Uber has officially started operating in Southampton today, with tens of thousands already downloading its app ahead of the launch. The company’s most affordable option, uberX, went live at 4pm in central Southampton. The service will run round the clock, seven days a week.
Thousands of Drivers Ready to Roll
Fred Jones, Uber’s UK general manager, revealed an undisclosed number of self-employed private hire drivers have signed up to drive for the platform. He added the service will expand as demand grows and more drivers join.
