A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed after admitting to hiring sex workers and dealing Class A drugs while on foreign trips. Detective Constable Pervaz Malik, from the Central West Command Unit, was exposed in a misconduct panel that revealed his secret life.
From 2016 until August 2023, DC Malik not only hired sex workers for himself but also organised them for others. In addition, he bought, used, and helped supply Class A drugs while overseas. His misconduct was not limited to abroad; in February 2024, he deliberately withheld the correct access code to his phone during a criminal investigation.
The Met’s Anti-Corruption Command and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) led the investigation. Malik was arrested at Stansted Airport in August 2023 on suspicion of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs. Although the Crown Prosecution Service later dropped the case, no further action was taken.
Despite the dropped charges, Malik’s misconduct panel took decisive action. He was suspended immediately after his arrest and was swiftly dismissed without notice following the hearing.
Detective Chief Superintendent Chrissy Jessah commented on the case, saying, “Police play a vital role in protecting individuals who are at heightened risk of violence and exploitation, and any deviation from that duty represents a serious breach of public trust. DC Malik would have been fully aware that he was acting in clear violation of his obligations to safeguard the public, as well as the strict rules governing drug use. His conduct was wholly unacceptable and fell significantly short of the standards expected by the organisation and the public.”
Malik is now blacklisted on the College of Policing’s Barred List, banning him from any future roles in policing, related bodies, or oversight organisations. The Metropolitan Police has made it clear that corrupt officers will not be tolerated.
