The UK government has greenlit a massive new solar farm that will pump out a staggering 237.5 megawatts of clean energy. The Fenwick Solar Farm zoomed through planning approval faster than ever, smashing all legal deadlines.
Record-Breaking Fast-Track Approval
Lord Whitehead, on behalf of the Energy Secretary, granted official development consent for the Fenwick project. The site will feature solar panels, electrical equipment, cabling, and energy storage—all connected to the national grid to power homes and businesses.
The Planning Inspectorate wrapped up its review right on the dot, making Fenwick the 105th out of 173 energy projects to meet planning deadlines under the stringent Planning Act 2008.
A Renewable Giant Joins the UK Grid
Because Fenwick’s output tops 50 megawatts, it required special development approval beyond usual planning permission. At 237.5MW, it ranks as one of the UK’s biggest renewable energy projects, promising a major boost to Britain’s green energy goals.
