Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a massive blaze yesterday at a four-storey commercial block on Regent’s Park Road, Chalk Farm.
The fire tore through the ground floor, leaving it gutted, and spread to damage half the roof of the neighbouring property. Seven people fled an adjacent building before fire crews arrived. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Regent’s Park Road remains shut at the Haverstock Hill junction as firefighters continue to battle the blaze. Train services between London Euston and Watford Junction have also been affected, with delays and cancellations due to the fire’s proximity to the railway. Passengers are advised to stay updated on National Rail for the latest information.
Firefighters deployed a 32-metre turntable ladder acting as a water tower to tackle flames from above. The Brigade received the first 27 emergency calls at 9:31am and dispatched teams from Kentish Town, Holloway, West Hampstead, and nearby stations. The fire was finally brought under control by 1:04pm.
Officials are now investigating the cause of the fire.
