Seven fire crews from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service launched a major operation to tackle a huge fire at a business park in Sandhurst this Saturday morning.
The blaze broke out around 7:30am at Lakeside Business Park on Swan Lane, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
Up to 50 firefighters were dispatched from Sandhurst, Wokingham Road, and Bracknell, with extra support arriving from Yateley. Firefighters had to forcibly enter the unit to get the flames under control.
Six firefighters in breathing apparatus used three jets and two hose reels to fight the fire inside the building.
The fire broke out at APB CNC, a firm that manufactures X-ray apparatus and supplies. A man claiming to be the brother of Adam Busby, one of the business owners, said the fire started after a CNC machine caught fire.
“When I arrived this morning, the road was full of fire engines with smoke everywhere,” he said. “The fire has damaged the building, and the smoke has caused damage to other parts.”
Thames Valley Police closed roads around the business park during the incident. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.
The cause is believed to be the fire in the CNC machine, but investigations are ongoing.
