Police have released images of two men following a brutal attack in a Mansfield pub toilet that left a man with multiple fractures. The violent incident took place just after 4pm on Sunday 14 July at the Bowl In Hand pub on Leeming Street.
The 50-year-old victim had earlier confronted a group of rowdy young men at The Swan pub on Church Street after they threw a plastic cup that struck another customer. After leaving The Swan with friends, he went to the Bowl In Hand pub and was assaulted while using the toilets.
A staff member found the injured man and he was rushed to hospital, where he remained for five days. His injuries include two broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a broken shoulder blade. The victim is a self-employed delivery driver who faces a recovery period of up to 12 months and will require ongoing physiotherapy.
No arrests have been made so far, but police have launched multiple inquiries. PC Nathan May, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a brutal and cowardly assault on a man while he was using the toilet. It has had a massive impact on his life. We are determined to catch those responsible — this kind of behaviour has no place in Mansfield.”
He added, “We need the public’s help to identify the two men in the images and urge anyone who recognises them or has information to come forward.”
If you recognise these men or have any information about the attack, please contact police on 101 quoting incident 0428 of 14 July 2024. Alternatively, you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
