Tragedy struck Ramsgate today when emergency crews recovered the body of a man from the inner marina. The victim, believed to be in his 60s, was seen floating near Military Road, prompting a rapid rescue response.
The Ramsgate RNLI lifeboat was launched shortly after 10am following a call from the Harbour Office, which had spotted the lifeless body in the water. Kent Police arrived at 10:04am to assist with the recovery operation.
By 3pm, police confirmed the man had been recovered and his next of kin had been informed. A Kent Police spokesperson stated, “The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
The RNLI initially conducted a search for a second possible victim but ended the operation after finding no further signs of anyone else in the water.
