Chaos erupted on the M25 this morning after a serious collision involving a lorry and a car forced the closure of the clockwise carriageway near Heathrow Airport. The shutdown stretches between junctions 14 (Stanwell Moor/Heathrow Airport) and 16 (M40).
National Highways confirmed the incident shortly after midnight on Tuesday, March 28. Their alert warned drivers: “The M25 is now closed clockwise between J14 (Stanwell Moor/Heathrow Airport) and J16 (M40) due to a serious collision.” A diversion is in place. Motorists must exit at junction 14 and navigate a short detour via the M40 before rejoining the M25. Commuters are urged to avoid the area and plan alternate routes to skip the snarls.
The crash happened just before midnight on Monday, March 27. Police, firefighters, ambulance crews, and National Highways Traffic Officers rushed to the scene. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police and LAS were called to the M25 at junction 14 at 11.55pm following reports of a collision involving a HGV and a car. The car’s driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.”
Currently, road closures remain as emergency teams continue their response. The collision is described as a “serious incident” by National Highways.
