Chaos on the A27 tonight as a car flips on its roof at the Quay Street roundabout in Fareham. Two lanes towards the M27 have been shut after a blue Vauxhall Astra crashed into a lamp post and rolled during a sharp bend.

Driver Escapes Serious Injury After Dramatic Crash

Emergency services raced to the scene within minutes. Two fire crews, police, and paramedics helped the 25-year-old female driver, who thankfully escaped without serious harm. She suffered a minor back injury and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Witnesses Claim Speeding and Phone Use to Blame

Eyewitnesses say the woman may have been distracted, possibly using her phone as she took the bend too fast. Nearby bikers said the Astra clipped a streetlight before flipping over.

Emergency Repairs and Traffic Diversions in Place

SSE contractors were called to secure the damaged streetlight, which was left hanging dangerously by its cables. Meanwhile, traffic has been rerouted via Quay Street as crews work to clear the wreckage.

“We sent a rapid response unit and an ambulance which took the patient to Queen Alexandra Hospital,” said a South Central Ambulance service spokesperson.
