Ten fire engines from Paddington, West Hampstead, Soho, and nearby stations responded rapidly to a large fire at an abandoned building on Kilburn High Road today. Firefighters successfully rescued five people and contained the fire before it could spread to neighbouring properties.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) dispatched crews immediately after receiving reports of the blaze in the empty building. Their coordinated efforts prevented the fire from engulfing nearby homes and businesses.
“This was a fantastic display of teamwork and professionalism from all involved. Rescuing five individuals and containing the fire so efficiently highlights the dedication of our crews,” said an LFB spokesperson.
The five individuals rescued were treated at the scene, with no serious injuries reported. Firefighters faced additional challenges due to the derelict condition of the building but managed to navigate hazards safely to protect everyone involved.
