Secret Outdoor Art Spectacle Lights Up UK Landscapes
Get ready for Green Space Dark Skies, a stunning series of 20 giant outdoor artworks unveiled in secret spots across the UK’s most breathtaking landscapes. Running from April to September 2022, this dazzling event is organised by outdoor arts group Walk the Plank as part of the UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK festival – backed by all four UK governments.
20,000 ‘Lumenators’ Bring Art to Life
Thousands of volunteers – dubbed ‘Lumenators’ – are being recruited across Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England. Outfitted with smart lights, these 20,000 helpers will create mind-blowing digital light choreographies, adding a magical touch to each artwork during the mass gatherings.
Countryfile to Showcase the Spectacle
Fans of the outdoors won’t want to miss Countryfile’s hour-long special on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later this year. The flagship rural affair programme will follow the project’s progress, spotlighting local volunteers, artists, and communities involved in this epic celebration of the countryside.
“With Countryfile viewers united in their passion for the outdoors and nature, we’re thrilled to be filming this special programme showcasing the stunning rural landscapes across the UK,” said Rhodri Talfan Davies, BBC Director of Nations.
“Countryfile is delighted to be partnering with BBC Nations for this special UK-wide project. We’re excited to show all the behind-the-scenes magic with a grand finale episode – audiences are in for a treat,” added Clare Mottershead, Commissioning Editor for Popular Factual and Factual Entertainment.
This unique collaboration promises a spectacular tribute to the UK’s natural beauty — and you might just get the chance to be a part of it.
