Granny DJ Spins Into Sussex Spotlight at Made in Sussex Film Festival!
Brighton’s Neon Nights Get a Sinister Twist
The horror-comedy Granny DJ drops its first Sussex screening on Sunday, 29 March 2026 at 8pm, held at Lewes Depot. After premiering at the Horror on Sea Film Festival, this Brighton-shot flick lights up local landmarks like the Old Ship Hotel tunnels and Zahara Nightclub (now DUST) with neon-soaked thrills and chills. Co-written by Faith Elizabeth and Brighton’s James Alexander Allen, the film pulses with vibrant city energy and sharp dark humour.
Granny Reinvents Herself as a DJ – And Things Get Seriously Spooky
Jill Stanford stars as a fearless granny who flips the ageing script by becoming a DJ. What starts off as a fun, rebellious reinvention soon turns eerie and intense. Told through the eyes of Lola (Summer Elizabeth), the film mixes comic-book style visuals with a gripping story about grief and buried family secrets.
Sussex Talent & Female Filmmaking Take Centre Stage
Directed by Sussex native Faith Elizabeth, Granny DJ is a passion project from Faithful Films and Tripod Productions. Faith also founded Yes She Cannes, a bold platform supporting women filmmakers. The film is set to close the festival alongside John Langridge’s Charlie Shaw’s Revenge, competing for the £10,000 Best Director Prize.
