One Lucky Escape as Fire Rips Through Flat

Thankfully, one resident managed to flee before the firefighters arrived. Ambulance crews treated the occupant at the scene for minor injuries.

Cigarette Carelessness Blamed for Hackney Blaze

Early investigations point to a cigarette being the likely cause. Officials warn that careless smoking and unsafe disposal of cigarette butts can spark devastating fires.

“We’d rather you didn’t smoke at all, but if you are a smoker, it’s vital you ensure your cigarette is completely out when you’ve finished smoking it. If you don’t, you risk causing a fire which could not only destroy properties but also cost you your life.”

Rapid Response from Multiple Fire Stations Controls Blaze

The fire was reported at 3.59pm. Thanks to quick action from crews at Bethnal Green, Stoke Newington, Shoreditch, and Homerton fire stations, the flames were under control by 4.53pm, preventing further damage and protecting residents.
