Flames Break Out in Ryde Flat – Firefighters Race to Scene
A fire broke out in a first-floor flat at Amherst Place, Ryde, yesterday evening, sparking a rapid response from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
Smoke and Burning Smell Fill Kitchen
The alarm went off just before 9:20pm as thick smoke and a strong burnt smell poured from the flat’s kitchen. Fire crews arrived quickly and found the situation smoky but manageable.
Blaze Brought Under Control – No Evacuations Needed
Luckily, firefighters tamed the flames fast, meaning no one had to evacuate the three-storey block. They used positive pressure ventilation to clear smoke from communal areas and ensure residents’ safety.
Two fire engines from Ryde Fire Station remain on site. Meanwhile, access to Amherst Place and Amherst Mews is currently blocked off as investigations continue.
